Have you ever wondered how a person could be so loved that even in their most unlovable state, they still receive such love that’s just not understandable from a human perspective? How do you explain a prostitute being married to a prophet and actually being loved without being judged? Or a husband buying back and loving his wife who decided to go back to prostituting but ended up in slavery?
So who’s this unfaithful wife that enjoyed this amazing love and forgiveness? She’s someone whose story you’ve probably heard about and maybe even spoken about. She’s a beneficiary of the kind of love, mercy, forgiveness and more than second chances just like us. She’s Gomer, the loved wife of Hosea, the prophet.
A summary of their marriage: Hosea was told by God to get married and his wife and children would be unfaithful. He obeyed and the love story with Gomer began. They had children. Then Mrs Gomer decided to check out other men even though she had Mr Hosea. Eventually, she fell into the wrong hands and became enslaved. God then told Hosea to go find her and love her, this is Mrs Gomer who left her Hosea for other men, but Hosea obeyed God. He bought her back to himself and loved her still ! Please how you do explain this? Someone is continuously unfaithful to her husband and he’s supposed to still show love?
Anyway, #HOSMER aside, their love story was to reflect the relationship between the Israelites and God. They were continuously unfaithful to God but he still couldn’t help but love them. Only God can make love seem so effortless. He truly loved His people and He constantly reached out to them so they could receive His love but yet they had eyes for other things and gods of lesser or no value which left them hurt. Yet, His love for them was still unchanged.
“How can I give you up, Israel? How can I abandon you? Could I ever destroy you as I did Admah, or treat you as I did Zeboiim? My heart will not let me do it! My love for you is too strong.” – Hosea 11:8 GNT
Are the Israelites the only one who fit that part? No.
We often toss our relationship with God aside and love other things more than God. We often want to experience the thrill of worldly pleasures, forgetting our true Lover.
It’s easy to point out the faults of the Israelites but we were like them at one point yet God loved us and still loves us. Our seemingly messy life doesn’t stop Him from loving us and being ever ready to receive us for us to be truly loved.
I mean, just look at this love:
“Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.” – Romans 5:6-8 MSG
Our God is Love. He loves us so dearly that Christ’s death was the price paid for us to have back our relationship with our true Lover. We didn’t deserve the love but yet He showed us such Love that the human mind may not be able to understand. He’s always ready to give us another chance to live faithfully and even when we’re back in love with Him, His love remains unchanged, unbiased and unconditional. Oh, such amazing love we are beneficiaries of.
God loves you so dearly, never forget that. Never think you’re in such unlovable state. He wants to show you what LOVE truly is, please let Him show you what it means to be loved.

The love of God is immeasurable.
We all should try to love others even though the person does not respond in love. We should just continue to show the person more love.
