Thinking of how to share my personal journals
Plus I might be on a 3 months social media break 👀

Hiya,
How are you doing?

Happy September! Yeah, I know it’s already day 11.

I’ve had this note in my draft for a while so I’m glad it’s finally getting to you. Initially, I planned to announce that you now get exclusive access to my personal journals. The journals would contain how I navigate faith, love and life as a believer. It’s like a personal touch to the already amazing posts.

I intended to share as many details as I was comfortable doing. That way, I expected we could connect better as humans, instead of merely people interacting online. As I documented for my benefit, I also wanted the journals to inspire and edify you as you navigate your own journey as a believer.

However, after some reservations in my heart about the exclusivity of these journals, I changed my mind. The journals won’t be exclusive to C & F subscribers, that is, those on my mailing list. Instead, everyone who visits the website (now referred to as “the hub”) can view them and be edified or encouraged as well.

This might make me feel less comfortable sharing certain details in the journals but they would be wholesome posts nonetheless.

A major reason I changed my mind to make the journals publicly available was when the Holy Spirit reminded me of the anchor verses that inspired Colours & Flavours. The Bible text is Matthew 5:13 – 16 (The Message Translation) but the part that stood out during this decision time was verse 16.

“Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16 MSG

It struck a chord in my heart and so, I decided to share the journals with as many people as possible. For now, I believe this is a way for me to live out this text.

You can view my personal journals on the hub here. This would be updated with new posts subsequently.

Don’t worry, you’re still special for being a C & F subscriber. You will continue to get the moments behind the scenes of Colours & Flavours and additional resources to help you navigate life as a believer. I’ll also give you extra insights into parts of my life through the newsletter. So, stick around and invite your friends to join the tribe here.

On to another news! I think I’m on a social media break. It’s kind of official since I’ve been off for 1 week already. Hmm, I plan to stay off Instagram and Twitter for 3 months till the end of November.

It’s supposed to help me be quiet, calm my mind and redirect my focus to other things. Honestly, it’s not easy but it’s helpful. Social media can be a good thing but it has also caused me some struggles. So, I’m keeping on with it by God’s grace. Please, pray for me to stick with the plan and make the best use of my time off. Thanks.

I might post on the Colours & Flavours Instagram page during my time off but it would be through a third-party app.

Lastly, I’m testing out a new idea. It’s an exclusive newsletter section on the hub for C & F subscribers. It’s simply a copy of the newsletter you get in your inbox but compiled for you in one place. We also get to engage with one another in the comment section. The password to view any newsletter has been sent to your email.

Alright, that’s it for now. Let me know what you think and how you are doing.

Cheers!
💛  Oyinkan
