The moment you believe in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, that is, in His death, burial, and resurrection as the atoning sacrifice for your sins, God puts His Spirit to live within you. You become the temple of God. That’s special and sacred.
One reason that God does this is to assure you of your salvation. God wants you to know that you belong to Him. He wants you to know that you are saved from eternal condemnation and death. The Holy Spirit within you guarantees that you have eternal life.
Ephesians 1:13-14 says, “And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
Praise God! If you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit now lives in you. He is your seal that you belong to God and assures you that Jesus Christ will return for you.
